Shuttle Options to Washington, D.C.

From Fairfax Campus

  • Take the free George Mason Shuttle Sandy Creek/Vienna Metro route or the CUE Bus on campus and get off at the Vienna Metro Station.
  • Hop on the Orange Line heading toward the Largo Town Center.
  • Get off at the Metro Center station (about 12 stops).
  • Explore the capital and its vibrant culture!

From SciTech Campus

  • Take the free George Mason Shuttle Fairfax/SciTech route at SciTech Campus and get off at the Fairfax Campus Sandy Creek Transit Center.
  • Get on the Sandy Creek/Vienna Metro route or the CUE Bus on campus and get off at the Vienna Metro Station.
  • Hop on the Orange Line heading toward the Largo Town Center.
  • Get off at the Metro Center station (about 12 stops).
  • Explore the capital and its vibrant culture!

From Mason Square

  • Head southwest on Fairfax Drive toward N Kenmore Street. Walk three blocks to enter the Virginia Square Metro Station on the left side across the street.
  • Hop on the Orange/Silver Line heading toward the New Carrollton/Downtown Largo.
  • Get off at the Metro Center station (about 7 stops).
  • Explore the capital and its vibrant culture!

How to Rideshare

Visit the Mason Commutes portal and log on with your George Mason credentials. If this is your first time logging in to the portal, follow the prompts to complete your profile setup and enter your preferred contact methods for ride requests.

Click on the link “Rideshare Dashboard” and select “I’m a Driver” to enter your trip details, including:

  • Trip date and time
  • Pickup and drop-off locations
  • Available seats or passenger limit
  • Cost per ride (optional)
  • Additional information

After completing the trip details, click “Save” and post the trip details. You will receive messages on the MasonCommutes portal when a George Mason member is interested in ridesharing.

Click on the link “Rideshare Dashboard” and select “I’m a Passenger” to enter your trip details, including:

  • Trip date and time
  • Pickup and drop-off locations

After completing the trip details, available rides in the area will be shown. Click on the ride for more information, including contacting the driver via the portal and requesting trip dates.
