Parking & Transportation

Inclement Winter Weather Parking Information, January 23

With the forecast calling for inclement weather starting on Saturday afternoon, January 24, it is required that all resident students with surface parking permits relocate their vehicles into the ungated general permit areas of the Rappahannock (levels 1-3) or Shenandoah Parking Decks (levels 1-4) starting Friday, January 23, at 6 am and before 4 pm, Saturday, January 24.

Any vehicles remaining in surface parking lots after 4 pm on Saturday, January 24, are subject to towing at the owner’s risk and expense to assist snow removal efforts.

Please note that the rooftop levels of the Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Mason Pond parking decks will be closed to parking beginning at 8 pm on Friday, January 23.

A valid George Mason parking permit is required to park in the general permit area of the Rappahannock (levels 1-3) or in the Shenandoah (levels 1-4) parking decks. Vehicles without a valid George Mason parking permit may park in designated visitor areas by paying the posted visitor rate.

Once the University’s Facilities team has completed work in the surface parking lots, we will send a follow-up email with instructions on when vehicles may be returned to their authorized locations.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as these measures are necessary to ensure safety during inclement weather.
