Short-Term & Other Permits Rules & Regulations

The following permit types are available online; the license plate must be registered to the permit. Please see the details below.

  1. Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax and Science and Technology campuses. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and the half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking). There is no overnight parking in the Rappahannock Parking Deck (2:00 am – 5:00 am, Monday through Friday).
  2. Evening General Semester permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax campus between 4:00 pm – 11:59 pm Monday through Friday and all day on weekends. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking).
  3. Evening General permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax campus between 4:00 pm – 11:30 pm for the date listed on the permit. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking).
  4. Field House Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are restricted to the Field House (Lots M, O, P), West Campus, and Rapidan River Rd.
  5. West Campus Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are restricted to West Campus and Rapidan River Rd.
  6. Science and Technology Daily permit: is limited to the general lots of Science and Technology Campus.
  7. Permit is only valid on date/dates listed.
  8. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved, and faculty/staff spaces.
  9. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.
  10. Permit is for use by authorized owner only and cannot be transferred to other people.
  11. License plate of a vehicle must match the license plate registered with the permit.
  12. Permit is not allowed to be resold, duplicated, or altered in any manner. Permits cannot be returned or exchanged.
  13. Permit does not guarantee a space in any specific lot.
