Faculty/Staff Shenandoah Parking Deck Permit Regulations

  1. Permit is valid in permit levels of Shenandoah Parking Deck at all times.
  2. Permit is also valid in non-restricted areas of general and faculty/staff areas at Fairfax and Science and Technology campuses. Fairfax lots include A, C, D, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the Townhouse Lot and the General Permit and General Faculty/Staff areas of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (level 2, the ramp up to level 3, and the half of level 1 not designated for pay-by-space visitor parking). The perimeters of both Lot I and Lot J are also designated as Faculty/Staff parking.
  3. Please be aware that you cannot park in the Rappahannock Parking Deck General area from 2:00 am – 5:00 am, Monday- Friday.
  4. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved spaces, the visitor level of the Shenandoah Parking Deck, the reserved areas of the Rappahannock Parking Deck, or the reserved area of the Mason Pond Parking Deck.
  5. Permit is not valid at Mason Square without approval from Parking Services.
  6. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.
  7. Permit is for use by authorized owner only and cannot be transferred to other people.
  8. ID numbers need to be facing out and clearly visible from outside the vehicle.
  9. Permit is not allowed to be resold, duplicated, or altered in any manner.
  10. License plate must be registered to virtual permit and clearly visible. May only register vehicles that permit owner owns or possesses.

  1. Permit is valid in the reserved area of level 3 of the Rappahannock Parking Deck at all times.

Mason Pond Parking Deck Evening Permit Regulations

  1. Evening permit: ONLY valid in Mason Pond Parking Deck from 4:00 pm– 2:30 am Monday through Friday and all day weekends.
  2. Permit is also valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas at Fairfax and Science and Technology campuses. General permit areas at Fairfax include: A, C, K, L, M, O, P and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock River Deck (all of level 2 and the half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking), West Campus, and Townhouse lots.
  3. Please be aware that you cannot park in the Rappahannock General area from 2:00 am – 5:00am.
  4. If one is parked in the deck after the time allowed, they will be assessed a $5 “parking overtime” citation for the first hour. If one is still parked in the deck illegally after one hour (3:30 am for evening permit), they will be assessed a $25 citation. If one accumulates 5 violations in a year, their deck parking privileges may be revoked for the remainder of the year.
  5. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, or reserved spaces, as well as the visitor or general levels (levels 1 and 2), the general faculty/staff spaces on level 3, the student reserved levels (levels 4 and 5) of the Rappahannock Parking Deck, the reserved area of Mason Pond Parking Deck, or the reserved area of the Shenandoah Parking Deck.

Short-Term & Other Permits Rules & Regulations

The following permit types are available online; the license plate must be registered to the permit. Please see the details below.

  1. Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax and Science and Technology campuses. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and the half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking). There is no overnight parking in the Rappahannock Parking Deck (2:00 am – 5:00 am, Monday through Friday).
  2. Evening General Semester permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax campus between 4:00 pm – 11:59 pm Monday through Friday and all day on weekends. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking).
  3. Evening General permits: are valid in non-restricted spaces of general permit areas on Fairfax campus between 4:00 pm – 11:30 pm for the date listed on the permit. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2, and half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking).
  4. Field House Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are restricted to the Field House (Lots M, O, P), West Campus, and Rapidan River Rd.
  5. West Campus Daily, Weekly, and Monthly permits: are restricted to West Campus and Rapidan River Rd.
  6. Science and Technology Daily permit: is limited to the general lots of Science and Technology Campus.
  7. Permit is only valid on date/dates listed.
  8. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved, and faculty/staff spaces.
  9. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.
  10. Permit is for use by authorized owner only and cannot be transferred to other people.
  11. License plate of a vehicle must match the license plate registered with the permit.
  12. Permit is not allowed to be resold, duplicated, or altered in any manner. Permits cannot be returned or exchanged.
  13. Permit does not guarantee a space in any specific lot.

West Campus Permit Regulations

  1. Permit is valid in the West Campus Lot at all times
  2. Permit not valid for parking on Rapidan River Road at any time.
  3. Permit is only valid in the undesignated parking spaces of the general permit areas on the main Fairfax Campus between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am Monday through Thursday and all day Friday through Sunday. General permit areas at Fairfax include A, C, K, L, M, O, P, the PV Lot, and the General permit area of the Rappahannock Parking Deck (all of level 2 and half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking). Please be aware that you cannot park in the Rappahannock Parking Deck general permit area between 2:00 am-5:00 am, Monday-Friday.
  4. Parking at all Mason facilities requires either a permit or a visitor payment.
  5. Permit is not valid in parking spaces designated as service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved, or faculty & staff.
  6. Permit is not valid at the Mason Square or Science and Technology campus.
  7. Please see the West Campus shuttle schedule.
  8. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.

  11. Your license plate is your parking permit. You must associate the license plate of the vehicle you are bringing to campus with your virtual permit in your parking account. Only vehicles the permit owner owns or possesses may be registered to your virtual parking permit. Vehicles must be parked with a license plate facing the drive aisle to avoid a citation.
  12. If you have a West Campus parking permit and an ADA placard or hangtag, you are still held to the standard rules and regulations for your parking permit as outlined in sections 1 & 3 above. You may only use the accessible parking spaces in those parking areas where your parking permit is valid.

Townhouse Permit Regulations

  1. Permit is valid in Townhouse lots at all times.
  2. Permit is valid in the Field House lots (M, O & P), West Campus, and the general permit lots of the Science and Technology Campus at any time.
  3. Permit is valid in all of the Fairfax/SciTech general spaces (A, C, K, L, and PV Lot) after 5pm Monday through Friday and all day on weekends.
  4. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved, and faculty/staff spaces.
  5. Permit is not valid at Mason Square without approval from Parking Services.
  6. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.
  7. Permit is for use by the authorized owner only and cannot be transferred to other people.
  8. Surface lots are restricted for student and faculty/staff use. Check signage at lot entrances and within lots for restrictions.

Beacon Hall Resident Permit Regulations

  1. Permit is valid in Beacon Hall Resident Lot at all times. Permit is not valid in any other Science and Technology lot except for Tower Lot.
  2. Permit is valid in the non-restricted General permit parking spaces on the Fairfax campus. Fairfax General permit lots include: A, C, K, L, M, O, P, and PV Lot. Your permit is also valid in the Townhouse Lot and the general permit parking area of the Rappahannock River Deck (all of level 2, and the half of level 1 not designated as visitor parking).
  3. Please be aware that you cannot park in the Rappahannock General area from 2:00 am – 5:00am.
  4. Permit is not valid in service/repair, state vehicle, administrative, reserved, and faculty/staff spaces.
  5. Permit is not valid at Arlington campus without approval from Parking Services.

  1. Parking at all Mason facilities requires a permit or fee payment at areas that accept mobile payments or parking decks.
  2. Permit is only valid in motorcycle parking areas. Motorcycles cannot park in a regular parking space in any lot or parking deck.
  3. Motorcycles are required to park in designated motorcycle parking areas outside of the Aquatic Center, Thompson Hall/Finley Building, Parking Services Building, and in Lots C, J, and Townhouse and the first level of the Rappahannock Parking Deck.
  4. Permit is also valid in the motorcycle-designated areas of the King & Discovery Lot at Science and Technology.
  5. Mopeds, scooters, and bicycles are categorized as motorcycles for permits, where applicable.
  6. Only one motorcycle can park per space.
  7. Permit holder is always responsible for their vehicle and must pay attention to any special signs regarding lot closures and other temporary restrictions or changes to parking regulations.
