Virtual Parking Permits
Your license plate now functions as your parking permit. It is essential that your license plate is assigned directly to your active permit, not just linked to your parking account. View step-by-step instructions.
Parking Regulation Changes
- Lot J: Starting with the fall semester, Lot J will be split into two sections to better accommodate campus parking needs. The front half of Lot J (closest to Patriot Circle) will remain a Reserved parking area (marked in orange). Look for signs and markings to guide you. The back half of Lot J will be converted to General student parking (marked in green).
- Faculty/Staff General Parking: The Faculty/Staff General parking spaces around the perimeter of Lot J have been removed. As a reminder, Faculty/Staff permits are valid in all General student parking areas, including the back half of Lot J, PV Lot. and Lot K.
- Vernon Smith Garage at Mason Square: Except for marked spaces in the garage designated for non-George Mason tenants and specific university permits, the garage is now open to permit and hourly visitor parking on all levels except P1 which does not have visitor parking and is permit only.
- New Parking System for all Mason Square garages: On or around Sept. 2, a new parking technology system will be implemented in all three garages at Mason Square, utilizing license plate cameras for access, as well as mobile payments for visitor parking. Information and directions will be provided to permit holders in August in advance of the transition. A preview of the system is available at the Metropolis Test Drive website.
- Fuse Garage: The new Fuse Garage under the Fuse building at Mason Square is now open. The garage is connected to the Van Metre Garage and provides hourly visitor parking at the same rates as Van Metre Garage. There is no regular permit parking for George Mason students and employees in Fuse Garage; the permit choices remain as either Van Metre or Vernon Smith garages.
