What to Know

  • Options include semester, monthly, weekly, and daily permits.
  • George Mason uses virtual parking permits—your license plate is your permit.
  • Make sure your license plate is assigned to your active permit, not just saved in your parking account. For help, visit the Virtual Permit Guide.

Before You Buy

Parking at Mason Square

All three garages at Mason Square use license plate recognition for access and mobile payments for visitor parking. Heads up: After purchasing a permit, users must complete additional registration with the Metropolis system.

Fuse Garage: This garage is connected to the Van Metre garage and provides visitor parking at the same hourly rates as Van Metre. Student and employee permit parking is available only in the Van Metre and Vernon Smith garages.

Consider Alternative Transportation

George Mason offers sustainable transit options:

  • Mason Shuttles: Free service to Vienna Metro, Science and Technology Campus, Mason Square, and local shopping centers. Fall schedules will be available in early August.
  • CUE Bus: Free with a George Mason ID between the Fairfax Campus, City of Fairfax, and Vienna Metro.
  • Mason Commutes: Connect with carpool partners and earn permit rebates.
  • Bicycling: Bike resources and discounted Capital Bikeshare student memberships.
